ATC acquits accused in Nawani House suicide attack case

SARGODHA: An Anti-Terrorism Court  (ATC) in Sargodha  on Wednesday acquitted five of the accused in the Nawani House suicide attack case.

The suicide attack was carried out on October 6, 2008 at the residence of parliamentarian Rashid Akbar Nawani in Bhakkar. It resulted in the death of 26 people, while around 73 were injured.

The ATC Sargodha acquitted all the accused giving them the benefit of doubt.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) had earlier arrested five people for allegedly having links to the attack.

The investigation police later discovered that the attack at Nawani House was result of a monetary dispute between two groups of Bhakar.
