ANF seizes 673kg narcotics valuing Rs658.66 million

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized 673 kilogrammes (kg) narcotics valuing Rs658.66 million in the international market, arrested 30 persons, including two women, involved in drug smuggling and impounded eight vehicles in 22 counter-narcotics strikes across the country.

The seized drugs comprised 661.3 kg hashish, 1.175 kg heroin, 4.100 kg amphetamine, 3.0 kg cannabis and 3.67 kg methamphetamine.

ANF conducted 364 drug abuse prevention activities in 2017

The ANF Quetta intercepted a Toyota Corolla on main Kuchlak Road, Quetta and recovered 186 kg hashish. The driver of the car Shafat Ali, resident of Hafizabad, was apprehended during the operation. Further investigations resulted in recovery of 373 kg hashish from a deserted house in general areas of Killi Gurgai of Qilla Abdullah.

The ANF Rawalpindi arrested an accused identified as Muhammad Ghayas, resident of Gilgit, from Parri Bangala, Chakarkot Road, near Forest Barial, Gilgit and recovered 4.5 kg hashish from him. In another operation, the ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a motorcycle at Kainat Bus Stand, Peshawar Road, Rawalpindi and recovered 7.2 kg hashish. Three persons riding the bike were identified as Ghulam Anwar, resident of Attock, Muhammad Siddique, resident of Rawalpindi, and Shad Muhammad, resident of Peshawar, were also apprehended during the operation. In the third operation, the ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Aqua near Judicial Complex, Katchehry district, Rawalpindi and recovered 2.4 kg hashish. Salar Bin Waleed Iftikhar, resident of Rawalpindi, was arrested on the spot. In the fourth operation, the ANF Rawalpindi arrested Umar Gul, resident of Swabi, from Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 1.6 kg amphetamine from his trolley bag. He was to take off for Saudi Arabia by Emirates Airlines flight No EK-615. In the fifth operation, the ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Corolla from Baseen, Gilgit and recovered 11.5 kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the car. Four people Muhammad Yousaf, Muhammad Shair, Mehtab Ali and Khadim Ullah, all residents of Kohistan, were arrested from the vehicle. In the sixth operation, the ANF Rawalpindi, in collaboration with ASF, arrested Khan Muhammad, resident of Swat, at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 1.1 kg amphetamine. He was to take off for KSA by Shaheen Airlines Flight No PA-274.

ANF catches drug suppliers in Rawalpindi

The ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Mehran near Hiran Minar Motorway Interchange Toll Plaza, Sheikhupura and recovered 4.0 kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the car. The person driving the car Tariq Zafar, resident of Shiekhupura, was arrested on the spot. In another operation, the ANF Lahore arrested two persons Majeed Ahmed and Shamim Akhtar, residents of Gujrat at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 1.7 kg methamphetamine tactfully concealed in their bags. They were travelling to Jeddah by Emirates Airlines Flight No EK-623. In the third operation, the ANF Lahore recovered 2.2 kg hashish from personal possession of Sulman Khan and Muhammad Zubair Khan, residents of Khanewal, arrested near Adda Peerowal, Lahore Road, Khanewal. In the fourth operation, the ANF Lahore recovered 1.0 kg hashish from Sohnay Khan, resident of Multan, near Sahoo Chowk, Multan Khanewal Road, Multan and arrested him. In the fifth operation, the ANF Lahore recovered 3.0 kg hashish and 3.0 kg cannabis by arresting a local drug peddler Muhammad Shafique, resident of Bahawalnagar, near Admore Noor Sultan Petrol Pump, Seikhupura Road, Faisalabad. In the sixth operation, the ANF Lahore recovered 6.0 kg hashish from a parcel booked for local use in Multan by Rana Sajid Goods Transport near BC Chowk, Multan. The hashish was concealed in shoes. In the seventh operation, the ANF Lahore intercepted a Safari motorcycle near City Hospital, Godal Chowk, Sakhi Sarwar Road, Dera Ghazi Khan and recovered 4.5 kg hashish from the personal possession of Muhammad Bajilal and Abdul Qadir, both residents of Dera Ghazi Khan.

ANF nail dealer pushing drugs on campus

The ANF Peshawar intercepted a Bedford Truck near Yaaruk Toll Plaza, Peshawar Road, Dera Ismail Khan and recovered 42 kg hashish hidden in its cavities.  Fateh Khan, resident of Karachi, was arrested on the spot. In another operation, the ANF Peshawar arrested Jahanzeb Mehmood, resident of Rawalpindi, from Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and recovered 1.8 kg hashish. In the third operation, the ANF Peshawar arrested Shah Fahad, resident of Nowshera, from Peshawar Airport and recovered 312 grammes amphetamine concealed in two Halwa Tin Packs. He was to take off for Saudi Arabia by Saudi Airlines flight No SV-795. In the fourth operation, the ANF Peshawar recovered 2.4 kg hashish from Muhammad Waqas, resident of Peshawar, arrested near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar. In the fifth operation, the ANF Peshawar recovered 3.5 kg hashish from two local drug peddlers Ejaz Ahmed and Ghaffar Ali, both residents of Peshawar, arrested near Srikhno Killi, Charsadda Road, Peshawar. In the sixth operation, the ANF Peshawar arrested a drug peddler Nadir Khan, resident of Peshawar, travelling in a Toyota Datson near Pishtakhara Chowk, Ring Road, Peshawar and recovered 3.0 kg hashish from his personal possession. In the seventh operation, the ANF Peshawar recovered 1 kg heroin from Nazia, resident of Rawalpindi, arrested near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar.

Three Cities: ANF rehab centres being expanded

The ANF Karachi arrested Rafaqat Nawaz, resident of Mandi Bahauddin, at the Jinnah International Airport Karachi and recovered 1.97 kg methamphetamine which was concealed in his trolley bag. He was travelling to KSA by Oman Air Flight No WY-326.
