KBCA ordered to post information on website

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court directed the Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) on Tuesday to post all relevant information about construction projects and builders on its website for public knowledge and monitoring.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani and Justice Zahid Hamid, passed the order during the hearing of the petition filed by Transparency International Pakistan against KBCA and the Sindh government. Petitioner Adil Gilani said that the interests of buyers and builders were protected under the Karachi Building and Town Planning Regulations 2002, but they were rarely followed.

Gilani appealed to the court that builders should ensure registration and up-to-date information about the number of units and plots booked. The bench asked for a compliance report to be submitted by the next hearing.

Syed Adil Gilani | 14 years ago | Reply We are living in a country where public agencies do not follow rules, and even when Courts Order them, they do not care. This case is an ideal example of " I don't care Syndrome" . KBCA has not posted a single information about any of the thousands approved projects on website after this court order.
