QUETTA: Senior journalists of Balochistan said the province’s situation was grim and appalling.

They said the lives of working journalists were in jeopardy, as they added that 10 of their colleagues had been killed in incidents of targeted killings during the past few years.

They passed these remarks while addressing a seminar on the ‘International Press Freedom Day’ which was organised by the Balochistan Union of Journalists and South Asia Free Media Association here at the Quetta Press Club.

Senior journalist Siddiq Baloch said Balochistan was considered a conflict zone, while adding that it was too difficult for a journalist to perform his duties in an honest and impartial manner.

“There used to be tolerance among certain groups but now they keep a close eye on our performance. We are working under tremendous pressure”, he remarked.
