ISLAMABAD:
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday ordered a ban on recruitment to government colleges in Lodhran due to the by-election in NA-154.
According to a statement issued by the ECP, the Punjab government conducted interviews on July 13, 2017 for appointment on 40 grade four vacancies in government colleges across district Lodhran.
However, the provincial government is yet to issue appointment orders for these jobs.
On Friday, all principals of related government colleges were made to sign the pending appointment letters.
The principal of one of the degree colleges moved the ECP against this action upon which the returning officer for NA-154 Lodhran by-election summoned Deputy Director Colleges Lodhran Qasim Raza, and ordered him to stop the related appointments till the by-election.
By-election in Lodhran is being held following the disqualification of former PTI MNA and secretary general Jehangir Khan Tareen by Supreme Court.
In the light of electoral laws, no government appointments can be made in any national or provincial assembly constituency where by-elections are being held after the issuance of election schedule for that particular constituency.
