Eradication of corruption is ‘our national duty’

NAB chairman says he is absolutely committed to rooting out corruption

National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said that corruption is cancer which is a silent killer.

He stressed upon all NAB officers to double their efforts to come up to the expectations of the nation as eradication of corruption is our national duty.

Justice Iqbal said that NAB is absolutely committed to rooting out corruption in all its forms and manifestations with an iron hand

He said that corruption is major hurdle in the way of progress and prosperity of the country which creates injustice, poverty depriving a deserving person of his due right on merit. He said that NAB has perfected its procedures and geared up to make NAB more effective and proactive in order to come up to the expectations of the nation.

NAB says committed to rooting out corruption

Our overall performance remained excellent as compared to other anti-corruption organisations. Today NAB has motivated its officers to continue hard work always with absolutely professionally, transparently according to law. He said that the figures of complaints, inquiries and investigations are almost double as compared to the same period of 2016 to 2017.

He said that NAB has introduced a new System of Combine Investigation Team (CIT) in order to benefit from the experience and collective wisdom of senior supervisory officers, a system of CIT comprising of Director, Additional Director, Investigation Officer and a Senior Legal Counsel has been put in place. This will not only lend quality to the work but also ensure that no single individual can influence the proceedings.

Anti-corruption department fails to curb corruption

The results of CIT are very encouraging. He said that NAB has devised monitoring and evaluation system to track implementation and outputs systematically, and measure the effectiveness of performance which helps in enhancing the operational, monitoring and evaluation capabilities of NAB.

He said that Monitoring and Evaluation System provide the necessary data to guide strategic planning and helps improving performance and achieving results to improve current and future management of outputs, outcomes and impact. He said that after implementation of MES in NAB, the performance of NAB officials has improved.
