The father of a young man gunned down allegedly by officials of the Anti-Car-lifting Cell (ACLC) in a posh Karachi neighbourhood a few days ago has voiced suspicion on the statement of the girl accompanying his son at the time of the killing.

Intizar was gunned down late Saturday evening on Khayaban-e-Ittehad, in Defence Housing Authority (DHA), after ACLC officials opened indiscriminate fire on a White Corolla he was driving.

According to the eyewitness girl, Madeeha Kayani, she and Intizar had met a week prior to the incident, Express News reported. She said if she knew who had killed her friend, she would have told the police.

However, Intizar’s father, Ishtiaq, said he didn’t believe in the girl’s statement. He suspects the girl is “concealing facts”.

Govt promises judicial inquiry in Intizar murder case

He added that the police had not shown him complete footage of the incident obtained from the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in the area.

“My son’s murder was plotted and now the investigating officer is trying to save his colleagues,” he added.

“A judicial inquiry would bring the facts to light,” he added.

On Wednesday, the girl said she was accompanying Intizar when the incident happened, but she didn’t see who opened fire on the car.

"Soon after, another car and motorcycle came and attempted to stop Intizar. They opened indiscriminate fire on the car when Intizar sped up the car,” she said.
