Indo-Pak collaborations in films have seen the best and worst. With Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar and Mawra Hocane already seen sharing the screens with Indian actors, more leading ladies made it to Bollywood this year.
Eastern Eye, a UK-based publication previously announced Saba Qamar as the top Bollywood debuts of 2017.
The Baaghi star has received much love for her role in the critically acclaimed Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium and guess what? She is now a Filmfare nominee for the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) category.
That’s right, Saba will compete against Zaira Wasim for Secret Superstar, Sridevi for Mom, Alia Bhatt for Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Bhumi Pednekar for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Vidya Balan for Tumhari Sulu for the award.
“Sometimes the co-actors become very important because your on-screen chemistry plays a vital role in the film,” Irrfan previously said of Saba.
The film received five nominations in total as follows; Best Film, Irrfan Khan for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male), Saket Chaudhary for Best Director and Deepak Dobriyal for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male).
Saba has also previously shared on Instagram that Hindi Medium made the top 10 Indian films’ list on IMDB.
Besides that, Hindi Medium was also one of the films chosen by the Indian Embassy to be screened at the annual Festival of Indian films in Armenia’s Moscow Cinema.
