HED orders clean water, at educational institutions

PESHAWAR: The Higher Education Department has issued directives to clean and chlorinate water facilities at colleges and universities throughout the province.

The directives were issued following instructions from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary.

Commerce Education and Management Sciences director general has instructed the 32 government-run colleges of the instate to clean water tanks, chlorinate water reservoirs, check and replace water supply pipes and to install water filters within seven days.

Similarly, the colleges director has told 18 heads of the joint management councils throughout the province to adopt similar measures at the 211 colleges of the province.

Apart from cleaning the water tanks, the instructions include checking of water samples by the Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) or any other authorised laboratory.

As for public sector universities, vice chancellors of these institutions have been given a plan of action which is expected to be completed by January 24.
