Earlier, the court has summoned three witnesses to testify before the judges on Tuesday. The witnesses included Umar Daraz, Nasir Juenjo and Afaq Ahmed. Khawaja Haris, the counsel for Sharif, and Amjad Pervez, who represents Mayram Nawaz and Capt Safdar (retd) were to cross-examine the three witnesses.
Only two of the witnesses, however, were able to record their statements. The proceedings of the court have now been adjourned until January 23.
NAB reference case adjourned till November 7
Sharif's two sons, Hassan and Hussain, have yet to appear before the trial court. The court declared the two absconders and transferred their case to another bench.
Law enforcement authorities made fool-proof security arrangements for the Sharif family hearing. Police inside and outside the courtroom were placed on high alert, and all roads leading to the court were sealed for the general public.
