
National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal said talking to a delegation of National Leadership Programme of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) Karachi.
Led by Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Sheikh, comprising faculty members and students, the SMIU delegation called NAB chief at the bureau’s headquarters in Islamabad.
Iqbal noted that getting educated in the alma mater of Quaid was itself a great honour. He said that institutions like SMIU are the torch bearers in the quest to impart such education to young generation who can rid Pakistan of corruption’s stranglehold.
He quoted Jinnah’s words: “One of the biggest curses is bribery and corruption. That really is a poison. We must put it down with an iron hand”. NAB is committed to eradicating corruption by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy across the board.
He said that youth is future of our country. Corruption is cancer which is the root cause of every evil. Corruption has become one of the greatest challenges of the modern era. He said youth are the ones who can be most effective in taking the anti-corruption message to their homes, to their streets, to their localities and create the desired disdain against corruption. The nation belongs to its youth.
