IGP vows to root out corruption in capital force

Directs officials to improve performance and address the grievances on immediate basis

ISLAMABAD: Renewing the commitment to root out the menace of corruption and make Islamabad police corruption free force, Inspector General of Islamabad Police Sultan Azam Temuri has said that no one within the department would be allowed to do any kind of embezzlement and only those following the policy of zero tolerance against corruption would survive.

He stated this while reviewing the crime situation in the city during a meeting attended among others by SSP Operations Sajid Kiani, AIG Operations Asmatullah Junejo AIG Special Branch Capt (retd) Muhammad Ilyas, all  Zonal SPs, SDPOs and SHOs.

Temuri made it clear that he would not tolerate corruption and will purge those police officials from the force involved in corrupt practices. He also directed all police officials performing duties at police stations to improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses on immediate basis following the merit to win the confidence and support of the people for the police.

Stressing upon speedy disposal of cases, investigation purely on merit and earliest arrest of criminals involved in various crime cases, Temuri  ordered to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders and other criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature who are still at large.

He also directed police officials for strict monitoring of those who have ever faced imprisonment in car lifting or involvement in other criminal activities.

The IG asked to activate conciliatory committees and early computerisation of records of police stations and directed to maintain liaison with the complainants and inform them about the progress of cases on regular basis.

The IGP appreciated the performance of SPs (City and Saddar Zones), SDPOs of Aabpra, Bhara Kahu, Saddar Circles and SHOs of Bhara Kahu, Golra and Tarnol police stations. He also ordered to launch crackdown against those involved in immoral activities, wine and drug sellers.

Islamabad police chief said that his vision is to make the force `exemplary’ and inculcate friendly police ecology in the city. He also directed for decent behavior by the policemen with citizens and to ensure immediate redressal of their complaints.
