ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary on Monday told the National Assembly that around ten “shanty towns” with 3,805 housing units in the capital were officially recognized by the government.

Responding to a question during the question hour, Dr Chaudhary said that proprietary rights were being provided to all eligible and bonafide dwellers of these slums. Listing the shanty towns, he said that it included French Colony in Sector F-7/4.

Moreover, proprietary rights and other facilities would be provided to residents of shanty towns in Sector F-6/2 after finalization of the validation process.

Responding to another question, he refuted allegations that no proper arrangements had been made to ensure cleanliness inside and outside the iconic Shah Faisal Mosque.
