Breaking the silence

Letter January 16, 2018
It is about time that men, women were treated in same manner for their experiences of harassment

ISLAMABAD: It is edifying to know that after the brutal rape and murder of little Zainab, more women are coming forward and speaking about their experiences of harassment and abuse. For long, society blamed survivors for their abuse and expected them to remain silent. However, the #MeToo campaign has and must continue to become the voice of survivors and give courage to those who are afraid to speak up. More importantly, it should initiate action against the perpetrators.

It is about time that men and women were treated in the same manner for their experiences of harassment and were not shamed for speaking out.
