LAHORE: The education wing of the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a protest over the failure of the police department to arrest the killers of Zainab Ansari, an eight-year-old victim of rape and murder. The demonstration was held in front of the Lahore Press Club on Saturday.

PTI Education Wing Central Punjab President Dr Atifuddin, Lahore President Saad Bin Azam and General Secretary Atif Zubair led the demonstration in which a large number of PTI workers participated.

They were carrying banners and placards on which messages were inscribed against the Punjab government and police department.

They also chanted slogans against the government for its failure to provide security to the young children of Kasur.

Speaking on the occasion, Atif said it was due to the negligence of the Punjab Police that killers of innocent Zainab are still free. He demanded the immediate arrest of killers and their public execution to set an example for others.

PTI leaders said the Kasur incident has once again exposed negligence on the Punjab government and police department’s part.

They said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has made justice impossible for common citizens.

“By killing two innocent citizens, police also proved that law of jungle is prevalent in the society where human life has little value,” one of the speakers said.

Meanwhile, speaking to the media, PTI central leader Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry said people of Pakistan should not have any hope from the current rulers.

It shows the negligence of the provincial government and police department that despite strong agitation the culprits of Kasur tragedy are still at large.

Criticising the police department, he said it has completely failed to provide security to the common man. “Crimes, murders and robberies have become the fate of citizens.”

He added Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has been enjoying chief minister-ship in the province for the past decade.

“Public money is being looted with both hands, but people are facing hardships owing to the negligence of rulers,” he maintained. He added the killers of the Model Town massacre would soon meat their fate. Current rulers will be behind bars for their misdeeds.
