Need for action

Letter January 12, 2018
Whereas for all incidents that are unreported, no one is there to seek justice or ensure that action is taken

LAHORE: The chief of the army staff, the chief justice of Pakistan and the Punjab chief minister have assured the family of the deceased child of the Kasur rape and murder case that the culprit will be arrested soon, whereas the CJP has even taken a suo-motu action over the matter. Though the action taken by them is commendable, it is indeed disappointing that the magnitude of such cases has reached the extent where the top authorities have to intervene to assure justice for the victims in cases which are primarily a responsibility of the police and governmental bodies working in the said domain.

It is to the failure of those who enact laws and those who are responsible to implement them that the culprits in numerous such cases roam around freely. It is then only through protests and public outrage that the authorities are awaken from their slumber, initiating an action. Whereas for all incidents that are unreported, no one is there to seek justice or ensure that at the least an action will be taken.
