Political point-scoring and rape

PPP’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has accused Punjab government of turning a blind eye towards such incidents

KARACHI: Even the brutality of the incident of rape and murder of a seven-year-old in Kasur, Punjab, could not escape becoming the opportunity for our political leaders to bring one another down and embark on political point-scoring. While many from various parties have expressed sorrow and concern over growing cases of rape and abuse, PPP’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari accused the Punjab government of turning a blind eye towards such incidents.

Apart from the timely and prompt probes and actions that the chief minister of Punjab has taken over such incidents, the PPP chairman openly called out the Sharif brothers for not doing what is required.

As child molestation and sexual abuse cases are not a problem of any one province or region in the country, blaming anyone political party or government is unjustified and irresponsible. It will not serve the cause.
