The first case of seasonal influenza virus (swine flu) has surfaced in Lahore, Express News reports.
Seventy-year-old Rashida Bibi, who has since been admitted to a private hospital for medical treatment, was tested positive for the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus.
National Institute of Health in Islamabad confirmed the presence of the virus in Rashida Bibi after studying her tests and medical reports.
Sources say that the patient was brought to the hospital on December 28 with complains of high fever.
Swine flu is one of the variants of the H1N1 virus, which enters the human body and weakens the defense mechanisms of our immune system from within.
Health experts say that the virus can affect people of all ages, but women and children are at increased risk of catching the disease. The virus can also be transmitted if the infected person coughs or sneezes around other people.
