The cricketer-turned-politician broke his silence yesterday about his possible third marriage, clarifying that he had only sent a wedding proposal to Bushra Maneka, his spiritual guru, and was awaiting her response.
The PTI chief insisted he would announce it publicly if Bushra accepted the proposal.
‘Eyeing up your spiritual guru not good’ and other reactions to Imran’s third marriage bid
According to Express News, Imran had not taken his sisters into confidence when tying the knot with journalist Reham Khan in 2015, a marriage which ended in just 10 months.
Interestingly, Imran's sisters, who had claimed he would take them into confidence when considering marrying for a third time, had not known about the proposal being sent to Bushra.
This was substantiated by Imran's relatives who say that his sisters found out about the potential marriage only when it was everywhere in the news. This prompted their visit to Islamabad in order to be able to tell 'facts' from 'fiction'.
Bushra in brief
The PTI leader had first met with Bushra, a mother of five, shortly before the 2015 by-election in Lodhran for the NA-154 seat.
She is around 50 years old and belongs to influential Wattoo family in Punjab’s Pakpattan district.
She has recently divorced her former husband Khawar Farid Maneka, a Customs officer and a son of former federal minister Ghulam Farid Maneka.
Bushra’s two sons – Ibrahim and Musa – after graduating from Aitchison College in Lahore are currently getting higher education from abroad.
Mehru, Bushra’s eldest of the three daughters is the daughter-in-law of Punjab MPA Mian Atta Muhammad Maneka.
