RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has upgraded all its motels to facilitate local and foreign tourists, said PTDC Managing Director Abdul Ghafoor while talking to the media.

He explained that the motels of PTDC have been given a complete overhaul as upgradation work had been completed. New paint and replacement of linen and napery work at all motels had been completed.

He said, now the visitors would witness fresh outlook of motels with renovated rooms with an objective to introduce Pakistani culture and tourist attractions at the international level.

PTDC has been working hard to promote beautiful picnic spots situated in far-flung areas of Pakistan, especially where the private sector is shy to invest, he added. He pointed out that presently there were 27 motels, one hotel and four restaurants being operated by PTDC including  those in Gilgit, Chitral, Saidu Sharif, Wagha, Besham, Torkham, Booni, Balakot, Astak, Miadam and Ayubia which remained open in winter and summer seasons. Similarly, Khaplu, Rama Lake, Phander, Chattar Plain, Kalam, Hunza, Skardu, Naran, Gupis, Mastuj, Sost are other motels of PTDC but remain closed during winter.

There are several Tourist Information Centres to provide information, travel guide, brochures and maps to tourists for planning their holidays, he added.

To a question he said, PTDC is planning to establish tent accommodation of about 300 tents at existing facilities of PTDC motels.
