General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has said that India is hatching conspiracies against Pakistan, but it should realise that our defence is strong.

Addressing a public gathering organised by All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) in Liaquatabad, Musharraf, the party's chief, said the country's politics needs to change. He said people of all ethnicities live in Karachi and announced that he has no personal purpose to be in politics - as he ruled Pakistan for over eight years.

He said APML is in the process of forming new political alliances and urged the public to support his party.

I am the 'greatest supporter of LeT', says Musharraf

He said no other political force is available to compete against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Sindh. APML will unite other political parties and the alliance will function under a new name.

Speaking about Karachi, Musharraf said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Awami National Party and PPP pitted people against each other and armed their supporters. He urged the people of Karachi to get rid of them and asked people to shun the politics of ethnicity.

APML President Dr Muhammad Amjad, President South region Ahmed Hussain, and General Secretary Aslam Meenai also addressed the gathering.

Establishment's 'rogue elements' may have been involved in Benazir's murder: Musharraf

Musharraf said that although he is a muhajir, he does not want to be identified as one. He said a real leader should always keep the national interest in mind. We must adopt a narrative which favours Pakistan. The people of Karachi are politically aware and we should act together and rise as a unified power.

Coming into power is necessary to bring change. Karachi is a part of Sindh and will continue to remain so, he said. There should be no division between rural and urban Sindh.

The people of Karachi have been confined to the term 'muhajir' for the past 30 years and have been labelled as RAW agents, target killers, extortionists and terrorists. They should support APML so that we can pull them out of this misery.

He said his party will try to win the upcoming general elections.

In the end, he said we are all Pakistanis first and then we belong to Sindh or Karachi. We need to spread the message across the country to think about Pakistan first.
