‘Eyeing up your spiritual guru not good’ and other reactions to Imran’s third marriage bid
Some politicians defend PTI chief for keeping cards close to his chest and others couldn't resist taking a jibe at him
The news relating to Imran Khan’s third marriage has drawn a mixed reaction among politicians as some defended the PTI chief for keeping the cards close to his chest while the others could not just waste an opportunity to take a jibe at him.
Despite rejecting the news on Saturday when it first broke, Imran’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) issued a statement admitting that he had indeed proposed marriage to Bushra Maneka, a 50-year-old lady Imran has been visiting for spiritual guidance for quite some time in a remote town near Sahiwal.
'Eyeing your spiritual guru up not a good thing'
Chief of Awami National Party’s (ANP) Sindh Chapter Shahi Syed has said getting married was Imran Khan’s right, however, looking at one’s spiritual guru with such intention was not an appropriate thing to do.
After much drama, PTI confirms Imran’s marriage proposal to Bushra Maneka
Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad on Sunday, he said Khan should consider reasons behind his shortcomings before thinking about getting married for the third time.
He, however, prayed for a good life partner of the PTI chief.
'Announcing your wedding isn’t necessary'
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak came up with his own opinion on the subject, saying announcing one’s wedding was not entirely necessary.
“It’s a good thing if he [Imran Khan] has tied the knot… and not a big deal if he hasn’t,” he remarked.
'Good for him!'
Terming marriage as Imran Khan’s personal issue, Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid has said he was not aware of any such development.
“He is a very good friend and I am proud if him... good for him!,” he remarked while speaking with reporters in Peshawar.
