ADRC resolves five cases in Sargodha

People approach ADRCs to get disputes resolved without going into litigation

SARGODHA: The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre has resolved five cases, including a murder case with mutual understanding of the parties during the first week of the year.

Officials said a case 542/14 of Urban Area police station was under proceeding before the Section 30 Magistrate Rana Ilyas Bashir which was referred to the ADR centre.

ADR Centre Judge Yasir Hafeez Awan settled the matter pertaining to a murder case while both the parties expressed satisfaction and also agreed upon the resolution decided by the centre.

In addition, a total of three criminal cases and one civil case were also referred to the ADRC which were also decided by the judge the same day and all disputes among aggrieved parties were settled according to their wishes.

The ADRCs were established across Punjab at district level following the orders of Lahore High Court, to provide an option to the people to get their disputes resolved without going into litigation and the set up was a source of relief for parties willing to avoid litigation.

There is no compulsion on parties to opt for ADRC. They all approach ADRC with their freewill just to avoid chronic litigation.

Earlier, ADRC Mediator Riaz Ahmad Khan said free consent of both parties was the beauty of the ADRC initiative based on Section 89-A of the Civil Procedure Code 1908. He said a similar system was also functioning successfully in different European countries.

He said every disputed matter between litigants was kept confidential.
