Balochistan CM Zehri faces no-trust move

Resolution submitted to the speaker signed by fourteen members of the house

Members of the provincial assembly in Balochistan have submitted a motion for a vote of 'no confidence' against Chief Minister (CM) Sanaullah Zehri.

In a document seen by The Express Tribune, the motion was signed by fourteen members of the house.

Apparently, tensions within the provincial government have been increasing over the past few days, where 53 of the 65 lawmakers are part of a coalition government.



According to reports, a dispute related to the release of development funds in the election year, as well as a decision regarding the appointment of the deputy speaker in the house have caused a rift within the coalition.

Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), National Party, PML-Q, JUI-F and MWM are the coalition partners of the government.

A total of only twelve members are part of the opposition, and they have given their complete backing to the resolution against the chief minster.

"Our problems have not been resolved despite the fact that we have supported CM Zehri unconditionally," PML-Q leader Abdul Quddus Bizenjo said while talking to the media.

"We have the support of the opposition as well as other parties. We are also trying to make contact with members of the PML-N," Bizenjo revealed.

Agha Raza, of the MWM, said that arranging a meeting with the chief minister and members of his cabinet was extremely difficult.

"Promises to provide jobs to our youth have not been fulfilled," Raza added.
