KARACHI: Last year’s knife attacks that spread fear and terror in Karachi in the months of September and October still remains shrouded in mystery. The police are still investigating the cases from various angles and trying to arrest the culprits. However, with the passage of time, while previous aspects of the cases are still unsolved, a new angle possibly uncovering the involvement of political parties has emerged. According to press reports, suspects held for investigations have revealed that political sources seek revival of the barricades that once were installed at the corners of streets which were removed after Rangers launched an operation against a political party in Karachi.
Though the possibility of political elements being involved cannot be ruled out, delay in concluding investigations would be an injustice to the victims. The police, for the time being, should focus on catching the attacker or his/her accomplices and investigate also the possible involvement of political motives in the case.
