Parents part ways, neither wants the children

Couple refuses to take custody of their children as a family court dissolves their marriage.

A couple refused to take custody of their children as a family court dissolved their marriage on Friday.

Nazia Bukhari, resident of Khuda Bakhsh Colony filed for dissolution of her marriage in the family court. She said she had married Zaheer Ahmed on May 8, 2009 and had two children with him, Amina, more than a year old, and 4-month old Ali. She said that her husband had illicit relationships with other women and was seeing his former spouse. Bukhari added that Ahmed regularly beat her. She said he had recently kicked her out of their home.

On Friday, Ahmed brought both children to the court. Ahmed told Bukhari to take the children as he could not take care of them. The mother responded that she was also unable to care for the children. Both said they no longer wanted to live together. Bukhari was adamant that the children would not go with her so Ahmed ended up taking the children back with him.

Nobody | 13 years ago | Reply @Hedgefunder: What father would willingly give up his children? Shame on both those parents. Shouldn't have produced children if they couldn't take care of them or simply 'didn't want them.'

John | 13 years ago | Reply She made a wise decision. Otherwise this cheating fellow will never bother to take care of the children and this poor lady will be in perpetual subservience to him, begging for child care expenses.

ak | 13 years ago | Reply Don't be quick to judge the mother harshly. In this day and age where parents actually consider selling their children so that the kids don't die of hunger, a single mother raising two kids is next to impossible for some.

Palvasha von Hassell | 13 years ago | Reply Both parents should be advised to act out of responsibility for the children, however unfortunate the other circumstances of their marriage might have turned out to be. The kids are still too young to feel the impact of the tragic ending of their family life, and a lot can still be salvaged for them if only some considerate arrangement can be reached. They should not be forced to bear the consequences of the breakup, as they are innocent.
