Social media savvy PM Modi super sensitive over BJP MPs not using his app

'I say namaste to you every morning on NaMo App (but) only four or five of you respond', said Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra, an avid social media user, is apparently unhappy that Parliament members are not using his NaMo app to communicate with him, reported Hindustan Times.

NaMo app, which takes it names from the first two letter of Modi's name is described on the Google Play store as, "Official App of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi brings to you latest information, instant updates & helps you contribute towards various tasks. It provides a unique opportunity to receive messages and emails directly from the Prime Minister."



On Thursday, during a weekly meeting, sources quoted Modi as telling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJ) MPs "I say namaste to you every morning on NaMo App (but) only four or five of you respond."

Several important messages sent with morning greetings did not even elicit a response, the PM said further.

Modi then asked parliament members to interact with him through the app on issues they felt were important. Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh also informed the MPs of a new feature that would allow them to directly interact with the PM, said sources. After the meeting, the MPs were briefed on the workings of the app.

“We are creating a new group which will include all MPs to share their ideas with the prime minister and other colleagues,” a BJP leader said.



During the recently concluded assembly election in Gujarat, the PM used the NaMo app to interact with party workers.

Modi has previously also asked party MPs to become more active on the app and share the regularly updated information about the government with the people.
