KARACHI: The community dairy farm project is facing shortage of funds and needs Rs500 million to keep the project running which is aimed at increasing dairy production of the country, sources say.

If the project ran smoothly, it could lead to an increase of 100 million litres in milk production per day in three to six months, they said.

This is expected to double annual milk production from the current level of 33 billion litres.

The project of community dairy farms was initiated in 2007 by the Pakistan Dairy Development Company, formed by the Ministry of Special Initiatives, in a bid to boost dairy production with the help of local and international experts.
