Snooker World Championship: Ding in control over Trump

Cueist eyes final after leading 9-7.

Ding Junhui, the first Chinese player to reach the Snooker World Championship last-four, held the upper hand over young Englishman Judd Trump in their gripping semi-final at the Crucible.

Trump went into the second session with a 5-3 lead, but Ding battled back to gain control 9-7 ahead of the evening’s third session. The Chinese star gave himself every chance of reaching the final by winning five frames in a row from 7-4 down over Trump, who knocked out Australia’s defending champion Neil Robertson in the first round.

Meanwhile, two-time winner Mark Williams of Wales was leading Scotland’s triple world champion John Higgins 6-4 in the other best of 33 frames semi-final.
