MQM-P merely a puppet show, real power still rests in London: Arshad Vohra

Says, clearest indication is that Sattar hasn't petitioned ECP to disqualify any MQM-London member

Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader and Deputy Mayor Karachi Arshad Vohra has said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) is merely a puppet show.

"MQM-Pakistan and MQM-London are still one party today, and the power still rests in London," he said while talking to reporters in Islamabad.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was scheduled to hear MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar's petition to disqualify Vohra as deputy mayor of Karachi, but the hearing has been postponed until January 3, 2018, due to the absence of two members.



The PSP leader has also petitioned the ECP to look into the constitution and mission statement of MQM-P, as well as the official notification regarding the change in leadership of the party.

Talking to the media after the hearing was postponed, Vohra said that the real face of MQM-P was still yet to be revealed, and that the party was merely a puppet show.

"MQM-Pakistan is still MQM-London today. The clearest indication of it is that Farooq Sattar hasn't petitioned the ECP to disqualify any MQM- London party member," he remarked.

Arshad Vohra was elected deputy mayor of Karachi as a leader of MQM-P but later switched allegiance to the PSP, and Farooq Sattar has asked the ECP to disqualify him on these grounds.
