
Reshuffling and appointment of top executives continued in the oil and gas sector on Friday following the government’s decision to replace top-most officials of most of the state-run companies.
Jehangir Ali Shah was appointed Managing Director of Pakistan State Oil, according to a notice sent to the Karachi Stock Exchange.
Oil and Gas Development Company’s General Manager Finance and Accounts Muhammad Rafi has been made Chief Financial Officer while Asif Saeed Sindhu will work as acting Managing Director.
The government is replacing heads of eight major organisations in the oil and gas sector after alleged failure to deliver in the face of the energy crisis. Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani had directed the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources to completely revamp the oil and gas sector with an aim to enhance production and distribution among consumers including industries.
