ISLAMABAD: A man allegedly killed his brother and a woman in a Jhelum village on Saturday after the two had allegedly eloped.

According to initial police investigations, Muhammad Asif had been angry with his brother, Muhammad Azeem, for eloping and then marrying an already married woman Rashida Parveen.

Meanwhile, Parveen’s family told the police that she and her weeks’ old baby girl had gone missing from her home near the Mangla Cantt earlier this month. They suspected Azeem of kidnapping the woman.

On Saturday evening, the woman’s family was told that Asif had allegedly killed Azeem and Parveen in a far-off village near Domeli. The woman’s family told police that Asif, after committing the double murder had taken the baby girl and fled to another village near Dina where he handed the toddler to a family.

Police shifted the bodies of Azeem and Parveen to the Sohawa Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for medico-legal procedures late on Saturday night. While a complete autopsy report is awaited, officers said that the bodies bore multiple gunshot wounds and bruises.

Sub-inspector Muhammad Ashraf, the investigation officer of the case, said it was not yet clear whether Azeem and Parveen were married.

He added that both victims were already married and had children. Till the filing of this report, no arrest had been made by the police.
