PML-Q rejects Punjab governorship offer: Sources

Sources say PML-Q rejected the offer saying it did not want to be part of a failed govt.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) refused to take the Punjab governorship which was offered to it by President Asif Ali Zardari, Express 24/7 reported on Friday.

According to sources, PML-Q rejected the offer saying it did not want to be the part of the failed government of Punjab as their party will also have to shoulder the blame.

There are also reports that PML-Q wants to avoid any form of direct confrontation with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

PML-Q is expected to get five ministries according to the power-sharing formula and the federal secretaries are also expected to be appointed by the party.

Moreover, reports indicate that PML-Q leader Mushahid Hussain is in the run for being the next foreign minister. Hina Rabbani Khar is currently the acting foreign minister.

Khan with Kuldip Nair. That is his only qualification as a founder of Misguided (Agency Prompted) Adventurism in Journalism. On top of that a man is known by the company he keeps. He has changed political parties more often than a bald man changes his wigs. Do you expect him to perform better than former Foreign Minister Qureshi? THE PUNCH LINE IN THE NEWS STORY: "According to sources, PML-Q rejected the offer saying it did not want to be the part of the failed government of Punjab as their party will also have to shoulder the blame." Are leaders of PML-Q convinced that PPP-Z is doing better across Pakistan than what PML-N is doing in Punjab? Do we have any other yardstick than a leader's policy statement on an important occasion like the announcement of coalition with a government that is: GOVERNMENT IN NAME ONLY? What Zero plus Zero (stolen from ZAB's statement against his opponents) will be equal to?

In 1992-3, Nawaz League announced operation against dacoits of interior Sindh, then they announced they are extending it to cities, then they provided a list of criminals to Altaf Hussain and asked them to expel them from MQM, then they formed MQM Haqiqi out of those criminals, and finally did what they intended to do, destroy Karachi and move industries to Lahore.

naeem | 13 years ago | Reply It is not any decision based on merit rather a business decision by PML Q to keep their members united. I agree that declining governorship is not because of being part of failure rather to avoid direct conflict with Mian Sahib. I wish Mian Sahib could have shown little bit flexibility and avoid personal grievances over national agenda but probably the same could not be achieved due to some of his close advisors. Let us hope that the new PPP partners work for Pakistan. I am just wondering that how Mushaid will be part of PPP led government.................... Our prayers should be Allah SWT please bring order in this country and make it peaceful place for all. (Ameen)

Umar | 13 years ago | Reply Since when a Governor is part of government. He represents the state and the President who are supposed to be symbolic without real powers or blame. Chief Minister is head of government in a province and prime minister in center was last time I checked on how Parliamentary democracy worked.

Ammad | 13 years ago | Reply We are all Pakistanis. And by reading 'reader comments' one can easily conclude why Pakistan is where it is today. We are used to being ruled by dictators - we, the educated elite, have no understanding of politics, be it street or world. Q has decided to come in at the right time, they will benefit more than any other political party by the next election. Nonetheless, we can speculate all we want, only time will tell.

Instead of farming and planning the national agenda for the people to get rid of its monstrous problems, and involving/boosting the nation’s lowest ever belief and moral with real eye believing efforts, both parting are meeting and farming alliance to extend their personal and family agendas as both are passing through their end time. Trying to get guarantors who can support them to enable them to cling to power and extract benefits and put curtain on heinous acts from the nation led by families based parties. They are spending billions of tax payers funds to keep hold to rule or pass it to their kids for feast as they consider it their Kingdoms (In modern world these are now called constituencies). For this they also select and add some wolves and lagar baghar for time being from within the animal farm which paves their way to loot this nation of animal farm. What more insult this nation expects from its political leaders who are knowingly involved in creating all the problems and chaos this nation is facing today. This country is exactly like Animal Farm. Politicians, Establishment, Technocrats, Bureaucrats, Mullahs the powerful pillars and it’s so called friends (guarantors) whenever in need or willing they just go to hunting farm and scarify the goats and enjoy feast on its flesh and blood. Since Independence, they are persistently fooling peoples by getting their votes to rule, and then distance them self and work for their own agendas. This whole system is flawed as they once get elected will never be get questioned by the people of constituencies for shifting their alliances to cling to the ruling seat for their personal and family agendas. These Draculas (Politicians, Establishment, Technocrats, Bureaucrats, Mullahs) are not realizing the situation that the animals have been put against the wall and it will only take a stampede of animals in the farm which will crush them beneath their feet and yet no evidence would be there. Who will create the stampede it not a question it’s a matter of time.
