Elahi said Kamil Ali Agha in Lahore, Muhammad Basharat Raja in Rawalpindi, Chaudhary Zaheeruddin Khan in Faisalabad, Tariq Bashir Cheema in Bahawalpur and Aamir Sultan Cheema in Sargodha would represent the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid at the demonstrations.

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) senior central leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that when his party was in power, it completed the Ring Road Southern Loop in five years, whereas current Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had taken 10 years in its extension.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, Elahi said that during his tenure, when the project was initiated, the government had to face many difficulties, but the court had not issued any stay order as authorities paid relocation compensation to all claimants on time. “We started construction of the Lahore Ring Road in an organised manner. We ensured that maximum transparency and public welfare were given preference. This project may have been completed with a long delay, but most of the projects of the Sharif government were still hanging in the air,” he maintained.

He underscored that deprivation among citizen of southern Punjab had multiplied in the current regime. Elahi stated that after the Lahore Metro Bus, the government had diverted all funds to the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) project. He said in PML-Q’s tenure, his government started and completed all development projects in a timely manner and tried to eliminate deprivation from the south, he added.

Elahi said development projects were completed on time during his tenure and no allegation of corruption was levelled against any government representative.
