ISLAMABAD: Relations between Pakistan and Ukraine are constantly on the move with people-to-people contact between citizens the two countries having improved over the course of past 25 years.

This was disclosed by the Ambassador of Ukraine Volodymyr Lakomov while addressing a news conference in the capital on Wednesday where he shared some of the salient features of the 100 years of diplomatic service of Ukraine.

During the course of his briefing, he highlighted various aspects of the diplomatic service and shed light on prominent personalities of Ukraine who had played a central role towards that end.

While talking about bilateral cooperation between Kiev and Islamabad, Ambassador Lakomov said that ever since his arrival in Pakistan, he had focused on promoting bilateral ties in all fields.

He recounted that Pakistan had recognised Ukraine in 1992 and ever since both countries have been cooperating with each other in various fields. The envoy also shared some highlights of the cooperation in the defence sector. In 1996, he said, Pakistan received state-of-the-art tanks from Ukraine.
