Balochistan focused on uplift of agriculture: Zehri

CM says agriculture plays a pivotal role in the development of a province

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has expressed the resolve to eradicate poverty and unemployment in the province and utilize all available resources for the development of the region.

During a visit to Balochistan Agriculture College here on Wednesday, the chief minister said the government was pooling in all resources for promoting agriculture, fisheries and livestock. “By encouraging agriculture and livestock, not only unemployment could be ended but the economy of the province would also be strengthened,” he said. Sanaullah Zehri emphasized establishing new agriculture institutions for producing more researchers and experts in the field.

While visiting the under-construction blocks of the college the CM was informed that Rs4.5 billion were being spent on the upgradation work. The senior faculty members apprised him about the performance of the institute, saying that on completion of construction work the college will be given the status of a university where students will be able to acquire education in agricultural engineering, livestock, environment and social sciences departments.

Nawab Sanaullah Zehri said the government’s top priorities were health and education and it had established several educational institutions in the remote areas of Balochistan. The chief minister stressed that the development of the province depended on agriculture and by putting right focus on agriculture and livestock the province can earn huge returns.

Zehri lauded the efforts of law enforcing agencies for foiling terror plot on Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai and arresting the attackers. He said the security forces by acting in a timely and efficient manner had saved the province from a major incident. It was due to the diligence and persistence of security personnel that the terrorists were being pushed to their logical ends. Zehri said the security of all important buildings and personalities would be heightened to avoid any untoward incident.
