MELBOURNE:
Australia left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc is in doubt to face England on the Boxing Day Test as he suffered a bruised heel.

Scans on the 27-year-old have cleared the bowler of any serious injury, who despite his troubles bowled with the heel problem in the third Test at the WACA on Monday as Australia wrapped up an innings and 41-run win to reclaim the Ashes with two matches to spare.

“Starc had a scan in Sydney which confirmed bruising on his heel,” said Australia team in a press release on Wednesday. “He will still travel to Melbourne with the squad as planned and will be reassessed ahead of the Test."

Starc comfortably sits on the top with 19 wickets over the span of three matches, as Australia might look to seamer Jackson Bird from the reserve squad.
