ISLAMABAD: The Allama Iqbal Open University expects to introduce academic programmes on ‘Seeratun Nabi’ (pbuh).

This was announced by the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shahid Siddiqui while addressing a ‘Mehfil-e-Naat’ held at the varsity’s main campus on Monday. The event was part of the ‘Jashan-e—Milad un Nabi’, organised by AIOU’s Employees Welfare Association (EWA).

Apart from the academic programmes — which will be offered at the Masters, Masters in Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) levels — the varsity further announced that it will arrange a competition for writing books on ‘Seeratun Nabi’ on an annual basis with the best book receiving a special award.

Dr Siddiqui said that AIOU will continue to lay greater focus on projecting the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah through diversified activities in order to motivate students to follow the same.

A research journal on Seeratun Nabi was recently published by the university and was declared as the best academic publication of the year.

The AIOU won four other national awards while promoting Seeratun Nabi. In fact, a varsity official said that this was the first time the AIOU was declared to be the best among other higher educational institutions on writing research journals and articles by the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs.
