This was stated by University of Engineering Technology (UET) Peshawar Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain as around 600 students were awarded engineering and non-engineering degrees on Monday at the Convocation Hall of Peshawar University.
Graduating students received degrees of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including Masters in Sciences (MSc) and Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD).
Interestingly the varsity’s registrar, Dr Khizar Azam, also picked up a degree as he and Dr Feroz Shah (Mechanical Engineering) received PhD degrees.
In the Bachelors of Sciences Engineering programmes, 525 students were awarded degrees. A further 33 were awarded MSc degrees. At the convocation, 28 gold medals and seven presidential awards were conferred upon graduates of undergraduate programmes who clinched top positions.
Dr Hussain congratulated the graduates on their achievements and said that the future of our country was dependent on the way students are educated and groomed so that they can understand the real challenges of the environment.
