Traffic police bans heavy vehicles from entering Murree

CTO urges tourists to avoid taking selfies while parking cars in the middle of road

RAWALPINDI: In order to ensure the safety of passengers and to facilitate tourists, the Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) has banned the entry of heavy vehicles and buses in Murree.



In this regard, special instructions have been issued to traffic wardens by Traffic Police Rawalpindi while tourists have also been advised to avoid travelling to the hill station on motorcycles, heavy vehicles and buses.

Speaking to the media, a CTP spokesperson confirmed that tourists have been asked to ensure that the air pressure in their tyres is at a moderate level. The vehicle, they said, must be in good condition while the battery must be fully charged and preferably new to avert any inconvenience.

He said that the entry of heavy vehicles and trucks has also been banned during day-time while drivers of such have been advised from avoiding travel to Murree during the day

The step has been taken to avoid any sort of inconvenience to tourists.

Moreover, officials said that only expert drivers should travel to Murree during the snowy season. Visitors have been advised to avoid wrong and double parking on the narrow lanes.

According to the spokesperson, Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Yousaf Ali Shahid had urged tourists to avoid taking selfies while parking their vehicles in the middle of the road. A large number of vehicles illegally parked on either side of the narrow roads further reduce the space available for commuters since they impede the flow of traffic.

Further, tourists have been asked to bring vehicles which run on petrol rather than on compressed natural gas (CNG).



The CTO advised tourists to strictly obey traffic rules during snowfall or bad weather conditions in the hill station.

He said that efforts were being made to provide traffic related facilities to the visitors.
