PAL to host National Literary Awards on Monday

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) will announce the highest literary award 'Life Time Achievement Award 2016' and National Literary Awards on December 18 (Monday) in a ceremony to acknowledge the contribution of literary persons toward creating a literate society.

'Life Time Achievement Award' and 'National Literary Awards' are considered as the most important awards of the country. 'Life Time Achievement Award' is conferred upon for the lifelong literary services.

This award will be decided by a panel of eminent and respectable intellectuals of the country. PAL Chairman Dr Qasim Bughio will announce this award, according to a news release

On this occasion the `National Literary Awards 2016’ will also be announced in which the best books published during the year of 2016 will be considered. 'Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal Award’ will be given for Urdu poetry, 'Baba-i-Urdu Dr Molvi Abdul Haq Award’ for Urdu prose, 'Syed Waris Shah Award’ for Punjabi, 'Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Award’ for Sindhi, 'Khushaal Khan Khattak Award’ for Pushto, 'Mast Tawakali Award’ for Balochi, `Khawaja Ghulam Farid Award’ for Seraiki, `Taj Muhammad Tajal Award’ for Brahvi, 'Saieen Ahmed Ali Award’ for Hindko,'Pitras Bukhari Award’ for English language and 'Muhammad Hassan Askari Award’ for best translation works.
