Opposition demands bill for merger of Fata

PML-N legislator condemns Israeli torture of Palestinian children, women

LAHORE: Opposition leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed has demanded that the government submit a bill regarding the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with K-P for it to be passed by the National Assembly.

The demand was made through a resolution he submitted in Punjab Assembly, contending that 70 years have passed since the partition of the subcontinent and independence of Pakistan, but Fata has not been made part of the country, in accordance with law.



He said all the political parties were on the same page on this issue. He said all ‘black laws’, which had been promulgated in British raj, should be set aside to provide basic and equal rights to the people.

He demanded that the government submit a bill over the merger to get it passed by the National Assembly without being influenced in any way.

Meanwhile, the treasury benches demanded the United Nations take serious notice of the torture of Muslim children and women belonging to Palestine by the armed forces of Israel. The demand was put forward by PML-N’s Hina Pervez Butt through a resolution she submitted in Punjab Assembly.
