LAHORE: All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Punjab Chairman Ali Pervaiz expressed serious concerns over the suspension of systematic gas supply to industries in Punjab from December 7. According to the existing mechanism, gas is supplied to the manufacturing units for two days per week with the leftover demand being met by imported and more expensive liquefied natural gas (RLNG). Pervaiz said the government had extended this quota last year in order to reduce the cost of doing business and address inter-provincial disparity as industries in K-P/Sindh continue to be supplied system gas throughout the week. Only 28% of Punjab’ industry’s gas requirements are met by system gas while the rest is being through RLNG, Pervaiz added, while appealing the authorities to rectify the issue.
