RAWALPINDI: To overcome parking problems in the city, another parking plaza would be built in the old building of the Municipal Corporation while the task of shifting wholesale markets from outside the city limits had been assigned to the Rawalpindi Development Authority, said Commissioner Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary on Sunday. Talking to a delegation of traders led by Traders Association President Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, the commissioner said that the parking plaza at Fowara Chowk had a capacity for 150 vehicles. The new parking plaza was needed to address the growing parking demands. It was also decided that encroachment on roads and bazaars would be removed to end frequent traffic jams. The commissioner directed RDA officials to form a report regarding shifting of transport terminals, Naswari bazaar, grain market, Dalgaran bazaar, vegetable and fruit markets with the consultation of trade bodies.
