Robbers kill school principal in Soldier Bazaar

Another woman was stabbed to death over a personal dispute in North Nazimabad

KARACHI: A private school principal was shot dead by armed robbers in the Soldier Bazaar neighbourhood Friday night.

The principal, who was later identified as 27-year-old Ambreen, wife of Ali Hassan, was shot once in her head allegedly by armed motorcyclists at Parsi Colony within the limits of the Soldier Bazaar police station.



She was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared her dead. Her body was later handed over to the family.
Jamshed Quarters SP Dr Rizwan Khan, while quoting the victim's husband, said that the couple was returning home Friday night after attending an event when the incident occurred. "I stopped our motorcycle and went to a roadside shop for a cold drink. Suddenly, two armed men came close to us and demanded our mobile phones. I threw my mobile phone onto the road in a bid to offer resistance. One of the armed men opened fire at my wife when I tried to get my mobile phone back," the officer explained, while quoting the victim's husband.

The officer said that the incident is suspicious, adding that the family, particularly the victim's husband, was unwilling to allow a postmortem examination to be conducted, however, the police finally managed to get her postmortem done at Civil hospital and were waiting for the report.

The officer said that the deceased was a principal at a private school but they did not know which school as the victim's family was not cooperating with the police. Khan said that nothing could be said until the police got the postmortem report and completed its investigation.



Separately, a woman was killed inside her house located in Block H, North Nazimabad within the limits of the Hyderi police station. The deceased was identified as 32-year-old Asia, wife of Rizwan. Police officials said that the deceased was the mother of a one-year-old girl, adding that the victim's brother-in-law, Kamran was involved in the murder.

DSP Naeem Khan said that deceased's brother-in-law stabbed her to death inside her house after a scuffle between them erupted over some personal issue, adding that the police have arrested the suspect and also recovered the knife used in the incident. A case was registered against the suspect while further investigation is under way.
