Speaking at inauguration of a 1263-megawatt Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) power plant in Jhang along with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday, Chief Minister Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif said he would like to see chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) ask for accountability of not just 56 companies, but 56,000 government companies as well.

CM was quick to point out that chairman NAB wants accountability from everyone, but when it comes to himself, there is none. He also added that if courts don't hold former president Asif Ali Zardari accountable, they will have to answer to the people.

He also said NAB makes laws to keep everyone in check, but this seems to only be for certain people, and not all.

"If I have stolen a single rupee from the people, if it is proven, nation can hold me accountable and come to me directly," Shehbaz said.

"If corruption charges rise against me after my death, I allow you to dig me out of my grave and hang me for it," CM Punjab said.

"Imran Khan could not achieve anything in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) in four years, yet he is dreaming of forming Naya Pakistan," he said taking a jibe at chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

"If those who have destroyed the nation aren't held accountable, there's only going to be a bloody revolution," he further added. "Imran Niazi opposed the Orange Line Metro train for 22 months until he descended on Nathiagali and realised Metro buses would be good for Peshawar."

He alleged that people closest to Imran are involved in "severe corruption", and have gotten loans waived off. "There is no evidence of corruption against me for even a single rupee. If evidence shows up otherwise, your hand can reach my collar for answers."
