Five-year-old Muhammad Abban was kidnapped on his way back from school with his mother from Haque Academy, a private school in Defence, on Wednesday. The school falls under the jurisdiction of the Darakhshan police station.
“The family received a demand for payment of Rs150 million for the safe release of the child. After negotiation, the deal was finalised at Rs300,000. Governor Mohammad Zubair also took notice of this incident and directed CPLC and law enforcement agencies for safe recovery of the kidnapped child,” CPLC Chief Zubair Habib Habib said in a statement.

The joint team of CPLC, AVCC and Rangers Special Task Centre began investigating the case after receiving a call from the kidnappers. An FIR was registered at the Sahil Police Station, District South. The investigation was later transferred to AVCC Karachi for detection and apprehension of the kidnappers.
AVCC SSP reported to the Sindh Inspector-General Allah Dino Khawaja that AVCC and CPLC personnel conducted a joint operation to arrest the kidnappers. Two suspects, identified as Zaheer Mirza and Zaki, opened fire in an attempt to escape.
However, in a counterattack, both the suspects were killed on the spot in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Ransom money of Rs100,000, a purse and mobilephone belonging to the child’s mother were also recovered. IG Khawaja announced Rs100,000 cash reward for the AVCC team.
