PTI, PAT to devise joint action plan today against Punjab govt

Imran ready to lead campaign to show solidarity with people of Palestine, says statement

ISLAMABAD: A six-member delegation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Shah Mehmood Qureshi will meet Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri in Lahore on Saturday (today) to work out a joint action plan aimed at bringing the real culprits of the Model Town tragedy to justice.

The PTI senior leadership met at Bani Gala on Friday and tasked the delegation to hold talks with the PAT chief. Both sides will meet at the Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Lahore.

Other members of the delegation include; Jehangir Tareen, Chaudhry Sarwar, Aleem Khan, Ijaz Chaudhry and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed.



Time and again, PTI Chairman Imran Khan has assured his party’s all-out support to PAT in case it decides to launch a street protest against the Punjab government’s failure to take action against PML-N bigwigs allegedly involved in the Model Town case.

According to a statement issued by the party’s central media department, the PTI leadership discussed in detail Justice Baqar Najafi’s report of the Model Town case and reiterated its demand for immediate resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

The PTI chief had earlier said that he wanted to assure Qadri that PTI would join him whenever he announced a street protest against the Punjab government in the backdrop of the Model Town incident.

Separately, the PTI’s core committee has also decided that the party would soon come up with a comprehensive strategy to protest against the recent decision of the US to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.



A senior party leader said following US government’s decision the Pakistani government kept its protest limited only to issuing traditional condemnations without any solid effort to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

“The PTI is keenly awaiting the outcome of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting scheduled to be held on December 13,” the statement said, adding that the PTI condemns in strongest words the US move that stirred unrest in the Islamic world.

“Khan is ready to lead a campaign aimed at showing solidarity with the people of Palestine,” the statement said, adding that the outline of the proposed campaign would be made public soon.
