Opposition moves House against US embassy in Jerusalem
Rasheed says they will invite treasury benches to join their protest in coming session

The opposition hoped to unanimously pass a resolution in the Punjab Assembly against US president Donald Trump's decision to shift the US embassy to Jerusalem.
Opposition leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, while talking to The Express Tribune, said they strongly condemned US President Trump's decision and would get a resolution passed in the Punjab Assembly. "We will also invite the treasury benches to join our protest in the coming session of the House next week."

He said that there was a need to send a strong message abroad, especially to Trump, who has hurt the sentiments of Muslims.
Resolution submitted
Rasheed submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly, contending Trump's decision was harmful to world peace.
He said that the Organiation of Islamic Countries (OIC) should be made functional and the matter should be raised in the United Nations.

Similarly, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz legislator Hina Pervez Butt also submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly and demanded that the United Nations take an immediate notice of Trump's decision. "Trump's decision is tantamount to attacking the Muslim community," she said. She added that the time has come for the UN Security Council and all Muslim countries to stand together.
