Mahira Khan bags 5th spot in Sexiest Asian Woman list

Priyanka Chopra tops the list for a record-breaking fifth time

Priyanka Chopra was voted as the Sexiest Asian Woman in the world by a UK-based publication, Eastern Eye. She claimed the spot from Deepika Padukone, who was voted top in 2016, reported Zee News.

The Quantico actor thanked everyone who voted for her. She said, "I cannot actually take credit for this at all. Full credit should be given to my genetics and your optics. I feel grateful and am humbled. Consistency is key."

Priyanka made her Hollywood debut this year with Baywatch and received the People's Choice Award for Quantico. The 35-year-old actor who has a huge following of 20 million on Instagram, will be seen in more international projects.

Eastern Eye editor and founder of the 50 Sexiest Asian Women, Asjad Nazir stated that Priyanka was a perfect mix of "beauty, brains, bravery and a kind heart."

He further added, "Priyanka Chopra has become an incredible international ambassador for India and is smashing through glass ceilings all over the world. Apart from being courageous enough to fly into the unknown professionally, she has also done a lot of work for social causes, become a strong symbol for girl power and is making a young generation have big dreams."

Following Priyanka's lead, Nia Sharma came in second, while Deepika and Alia Bhatt ranked third and fourth, respectively. Pakistani actor Mahira Khan who was on the ninth rank last year, bagged the fifth position on the same list this time.

This rounds off a remarkable year for the Bol actor, which started with starring opposite Bollywood’s biggest star Shahrukh Khan and ended with a powerful performance in Pakistani film Verna. Being ranked fifth and the highest placed Pakistani took the down to earth star totally by surprise. “Honestly, this time I think I’m just going to take the tag and run with it! It feels great, third time in a row. Being sexy or beautiful for me is really just being comfortable in your own skin,” said Mahira.

In regards to Mahira's name making it to the list, Asjad stated, "Mahira Khan has become a powerful symbol of girl power in Pakistan, both for youngsters who have big dreams and for working mothers. She has also spoken up about important social causes including the empowerment of women in Pakistan and has been a great ambassador for her country around the world. She has combined all that with how great she always looks. Mahira has shown both inner and outer beauty.”

Other celebrities that made the top 10 include Drashti Dhami, Katrina Kaif, Shraddha Kapoor, Gauhar Khan and Rubina Dilaik. The youngest one on the list was TV actor Shivangi Joshi, aged 19 while the oldest was Sridevi ranked at 49. Even Momina Mustehsan bagged the 37th position on the same list.

The complete list of 50 Sexiest Asian Women 2017 has been published in this week's issue of Eastern Eye. A men's list is set to be released on December 15.

I even wonder if the Middle East and Central Asia were factored in this vote ? But your comment smacks of the usual comment of a local pulling a fellow local down.
